Geneva seeks public input for new comprehensive plan
The city of Geneva has launched the planning process for the Geneva 2040 Comprehensive Plan, and the public is invited to be part of the conversation.
A comprehensive plan sets the community’s long-term vision for the future. The plan addresses key topics such as housing, transportation, economic development, land use, and more.
Once complete, the plan will serve as a guiding document to help elected officials, city staff, and the community make informed decisions for the next decade and beyond while also preserving the qualities that make Geneva unique.
Community engagement will be a cornerstone of the planning process.
The first opportunity for public input will be the Geneva Conversations event, scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Geneva High School cafeteria, 416 McKinley Ave.
The evening will start with a brief overview followed by small-group discussions where participants can share their perspectives on topics such as housing, economic development and sustainability.
For residents unable to attend, the city will offer additional opportunities for community feedback throughout the year.
Geneva’s last comprehensive plan update was completed in 2003. The new planning process began earlier this month with the city’s consultant conducting community stakeholder interviews.
The new comprehensive plan is anticipated to be adopted by the city council in early 2027.
