St. Charles utility upgrades needed
A recent Daily Herald article outlined projected utility cost increases due to system upgrades planned for the City of St. Charles. These are obviously necessary upgrades. There were comments about trying to find other revenue sources to help offset these costs.
There’s been much controversy over the planned redevelopment of the police station site along the river. From my view, there have been some excellent development plans that would convert this property into a productive use that would add tax base and bring additional residents that would shop at our local stores and eat in our restaurants. The sale of property would also bring in much-needed revenue to the city, and avoid the extra cost of building a park or open space, next to an existing park, and at additional expense to the city.
