Naperville police investigating report of shots fired downtown
Naperville police continue to investigate a report of shots fired Friday night in the city’s downtown.
According to police, officers on patrol heard the suspected gunshots coming from an alley near the 0-100 block of East Chicago Avenue at about 7:55 p.m. When they went to the area to investigate, officers saw several juveniles fleeing.
During a search, officers located evidence consistent with gunfire, police said. But no victims have been found and no property damage has been reported, police said.
Officers detained several individuals in the immediate area as part of the investigation, but they were released after questioning, officials said. No firearm has been recovered.
