Whiskers, feathers and fur coming to Lake Zurich’s Mainstreet Gallery

Mainstreet Gallery is getting ready for a tail-wagging and whisker twitching experience this April.

The Gallery’s latest exhibition, “Not Your Average Pet,” has challenged artists to capture furry friends and feathered companions in a creative and vibrant way.

“We wanted artists to be challenged to showcase their favorite animals in a way that went beyond a traditional animal portrait,” owner Frankie Johnson said.

The artists displaying in the show have captured a wide variety of animals from man’s best friend to cheetahs armed with a paintbrush. All of the paintings are original works of art. It’s truly a wild and untamed exhibit featuring the wonder of the animal kingdom and the talent of local artists.

The Gallery Open House and Awards night will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 17, and is open to the public.

Mainstreet Gallery is at 16 E. Main St., Lake Zurich.
