Naperville celebrates Earth Month with conservation activities, plant sales and more
Naperville Park District, the city of Naperville, and many other local organizations are hosting community events, plant sales, and activities to collectively celebrate Earth Month Naperville, in recognition of the 56th annual Earth Day. Earth Month Naperville started April 6 and continues to April 30.
Knoch Knolls Nature Center, 320 Knoch Knolls Road, is offering hands-on exhibits, displays and activities all month long. It centers on the theme, “Wildlife Conservation Success Stories.” The park district invites the community to learn about the conservational plight of various local species.
One Earth Film Festival is hosting a festival from Wednesday to Monday, April 22-27. The festival centers on the theme, “All Together Now,” and shows films that spark conversation, connection and collective action for our planet. Learn more at oneearthfilmfest.org.
The city of Naperville’s annual Arbor Day Tree Sale is ongoing until 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, or earlier if all trees are sold. Tree pickup will be on Saturday, April 25, at the public works service center, 180 Fort Hill Drive. Orders are available via naperville.il.us.
The Morton Arboretum will host its own Arbor Day Plant Sale from Thursday to Saturday, April 23-25. Tickets go on sale April 15 at mortonarb.org. Each plant sale ticket is for a specific time slot. Space is limited. Tickets are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The annual McDonald Farm Plant Sale, hosted by the Conservation Foundation, will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at McDonald Farm, 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road. There will be a wide selection of native perennials, and grasses, McDonald Farm-grown organic vegetable and herb seedlings, organic compost, rain barrels, Mother’s Day gift options, and more.
