Co-defendant Jahiem Russell, 22, of the 400 block of East 89th Place, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a stolen license plate and two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding, both felonies.

On Wednesday, an Oak Brook police officer pulled behind a blue Nissan on Ring Road near Harger Road. Police say the Nissan sped up, drove through multiple stop signs, entered eastbound 22nd Street, got onto westbound I-88, then southbound Route 83, eastbound I-88 and southbound I-294, according to the release. The car hit a Tesla on I-88.

It hit road barrels on the ramp to westbound Ogden Avenue in Hinsdale, then backed in to a police car. Russell and Bell then ran off, police said.

Officers say they found a loaded 9 mm handgun in the Nissan, on the front passenger floorboard where Bell had been seated.

The license plate on the Nissan was reported stolen April 7.

There were three boys, ages 16, 16 and 17, in the car, according to court records.

Both men are due back in court May 4.
