Waukegan Park District Announces 2026 GO WAUKEGAN Community Walks
Get your steps in! The Waukegan Park District is hosting several GO WAUKEGAN community walks in 2026. The free outdoor walks are designed to encourage individuals and families to walk a minimum of 30 minutes a day, helping create a healthy lifestyle.
In partnership with the Lake County Health Department, the Waukegan Park District launched GO WAUKEGAN, an initiative to improve the health and wellness of residents through activities, education, and collaboration with an emphasis on outdoor enrichment.
The GO WAUKEGAN community walks will be held on the following dates and times:
• Spring into Shape from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at Hinkston Park, at 810 Baldwin Avenue.
• Splashin’ Summer Walk from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, at Hinkston Park, 810 Baldwin Avenue.
• Wag ‘N’ Walk from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, at Hinkston Park, at 810 Baldwin Avenue.
• Glow Walk from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Bevier Park, at 2255 York House Road.
• Zombie Walk from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Hinkston Park, at 810 Baldwin Avenue.
• Santa Shuffle Walk from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Field House Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Center, at 800 Baldwin Avenue.
Each walk will have a unique theme to enjoy with free GO WAUKEGAN shirts handed out while supplies last.
The 2019 Glow Walk was recognized by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association and named Division II Outstanding Program or Special Event Award at the 2020 IAPD/IPRA Soaring to New Heights Conference.
Preregistration is not required to participate in the free walks. In case of inclement weather, walks will be postponed until a new date has been determined. More information about GO WAUKEGAN is available at waukeganparks.org/gowaukegan
