Seigle Foundation sponsors the expansion of Elgin Youth Symphony’s Starter Strings Program

Seigle Foundation proudly announces the award of arts grants to the following charities: Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton Wings, Chamber Music on the Fox, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Children’s Theatre of Elgin, Elgin Master Chorale, Side Street Studio Arts, YWCA Elgin, plus two new recipients: Ballet Folklorico Girasol and iambe theatre ensemble.

The foundation believes that communities and people flourish when a strong arts and culture sector serves to unify, entertain, and enlighten.

Daniel Meyers, executive director of Elgin Youth Symphony, stated, “The Seigle Foundation has been a vital and active partner for the Starter Strings program since it began. The foundation’s support has enabled the program to grow year after year, now providing beginning violin and viola instruction to more than 120 fourth-graders at local low-income schools. Thanks to Robin, Mark, and Karina, these students will develop perseverance, confidence, creativity, and emotional intelligence as they learn to make music through exceptional teaching on high quality instruments.”

In addition to the arts, Seigle Foundation is focused on food, education, and housing. Nonprofit organizations serving the Elgin and Dundee communities are eligible to apply. For more information see SeigleFoundation.org.
