Sister Mary Juarez celebrates 103rd birthday at Glen Ellyn memory care

On March 30, 2026, Sister Mary Juarez celebrated her 103rd birthday alongside friends at Maple Glen memory care in Glen Ellyn.

A Chicago native, Sister Mary’s life of service began following her education in Catholic schools and her time at Loyola University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education before obtaining a master’s in Spanish.

In 1942, she committed herself to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, an order dedicated to prayer, community, and a specialized ministry in education. After more than 60 years of devotion to her students and her faith, Sister Mary retired from teaching in 2003.

At Maple Glen, Sister Mary often participates in the stretching exercises during Morning Club and enjoys singing along during music programs.

Maple Glen team members said Sister Mary is an inspiration and joy.
