Three Rolling Meadows men face gun charges after Arlington Heights traffic stop

Three Rolling Meadows men face gun charges after Arlington Heights police pulled over their vehicle and recovered two weapons, authorities said Friday.

Police said they stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation just before 8 p.m. Thursday on the 300 block of East Seegers Road.

Officers observed a loaded magazine protruding from the sweatshirt pocket of the front seat passenger, police said.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two 9 mm handguns underneath the front passenger seat and in the rear pocket of the driver’s seat, authorities said.

None of the individuals in the car had Firearm Owner’s Identification cards or concealed carry permits, according to police.

Leonel Cazares-Leon, 20, and Mario Cazares, 19, were each charged with felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

They, along with Emmanuel Cruz-Valencia, 21, were each charged with misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of ammunition without a valid FOID card.

All three were released pending their initial court appearances.
