Hotelier may get grant from Des Plaines to fund renovation

The Des Plaines City Council on Monday will consider awarding a $135,751 grant to the owner of a local hotel to help fund recent renovations.

Shrin Hospitality, the company that owns the Hilton O’Hare Airport at 2175 E. Touhy Ave., applied for the cash through Des Plaines’ Business Assistant Grant program.

The $2.7 million renovation was completed last year, documents indicate. Furniture throughout the 145-room hotel has been replaced and the parking lot has been rebuilt.

Since June 2025, Des Plaines has required companies seeking grants through the business program to apply before work begins. The company is requesting a waiver to that rule.

The council meeting is set for 7 p.m. at city hall, 1420 Miner St. It will be open to the public and livestreamed at desplainesil.gov.
