Bartlett police launch Blue Envelope Program to support drivers with autism
The Bartlett Police Department, in partnership with the Autism Hero Project, is launching a Blue Envelope Program, an initiative designed to support drivers with Autism Spectrum Disorder during interactions with law enforcement officers and other first responders.
During a traffic stop or other interaction with law enforcement, a driver with ASD may present the Blue Envelope to the responding officer. The exterior of the envelope provides important information for both the driver and the officer.
Inside, the envelope is intended to hold the driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance and the contact card of a trusted individual.
Bartlett residents may obtain a Blue Envelope at police department, 228 S. Main St. For more information, contact Sgt. Johnson at chjohnson@bartlettil.gov or (630) 540-5139.
