Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening

Several waves of thunderstorms are expected to roll through the area this afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service is forecasting.

Kane and McHenry counties are under a tornado watch until 8 p.m.

These storms are capable of producing winds up to 70 mph and hail.

Another round of thunderstorms could move through the area Friday afternoon and evening.
