Police stop bank robbery in Hoffman Estates

One person is custody after a bank robbery Wednesday morning in Hoffman Estates.

Officers from both the Hoffman Estates and the Inverness police departments arrived at the Huntington Bank on the 1400 block of Palatine Road within a minute of dispatch, authorities said. They entered the bank, quickly located the suspect and took him into custody without injury or further incident, according to police.

Callers reported that a man had shown a firearm while demanding money from employees, police said.

The suspect was transferred to FBI custody. Federal charges are pending as the investigation remains active, according to police.
