Oil reliance shows in Iran ‘excursion’

Nobody has accused the Trump Administration of being particularly deep thinkers; despite Steve Bannon's claims of Trump playing “5-D chess,” the consequences of the current Iran military mission are sure to reverberate forward — perhaps in ways that run counter to Trump's own goals.

The “excursion” (read: war) in Iran is exposing worldwide reliance on fossil fuels, as a crippling Iranian blockade in the Strait of Hormuz sends oil and fertilizer prices skyrocketing. What better time to push a nation toward building out renewable energy capacity, as solar panels are the fastest/easiest/cheapest way to generate new electricity?

The Guardian news outlet also reports that searches for EVs online are up 20% since the start of the war; despite Trump's best efforts to kneecap the EV revolution, drivers are beginning to understand how much reliance on the gas pump will keep their hands — and wallets — tied to the whims of petrostate dictators.

Classic Trump Administration: open mouth, insert foot.
