Geneva seeks volunteers for city advisory boards

Looking to make a difference in your community? The city of Geneva seeks dedicated volunteers to fill vacancies on its Strategic Plan Advisory Committee and Board of Fire & Police Commissioners.

The Strategic Plan Advisory Committee (SPAC) is tasked with prioritizing community goals outlined in the city’s strategic plan, encouraging citizen input and assisting with goal implementation. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month.

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners works closely with fire and police departments to manage the hiring and appointment of full-time police officers and firefighters. Additionally, the board partners with city staff to conduct promotional exams. Meetings are regularly scheduled for 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday every other month, with additional meetings as needed.

Residents interested in serving on these advisory boards may submit an application online and attach a letter of interest. The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9. Candidates must reside within the city's corporate boundary limits (see the city's ward map).

Applications will be reviewed by Mayor Kevin Burns, and nominations will be brought forward to the city council for approval.
