Join in Holy Week and Easter worship at Bartlett’s Living Lord Church
Living Lord Lutheran Church in Bartlett invites the community to join the congregation for Holy Week and Easter services open to all.
Holy Week marks the journey of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
“In this sacred story, we find hope, healing, community, and the promise that love is stronger than death,” said the Rev. Kristian Johnson, Living Lord’s pastor.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, on March 29, with worship services including the procession of the palms to mark the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem during his final week, and a celebration of hope for humankind, at both the 9 a.m. traditional service and the 10:30 a.m. contemporary service.
Maundy Thursday worship, on April 2 at 7 p.m., commemorates the Last Supper of Christ and the service is led by First Communion students and their families.
Good Friday worship, on April 3 at 7 p.m., is called the Tenebrae service (“The Seven Last Words” of Christ), to remember Christ’s crucifixion and death.
Holy Week comes to a close on Easter Sunday, April 5. “As we complete our Lenten journey, Easter is the day we gather together in the joyous celebration of Christ’s resurrection,” Johnson said.
Living Lord holds two Easter services: a traditional service at 9 a.m., with choral voices and brass, and a contemporary service at 10:30 a.m., featuring a live praise band. Easter breakfast, hosted by the youth group, will be offered from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Living Lord Lutheran Church, 1044 Congress Drive in Bartlett, welcomes everyone to participate in its community of faith all year long.
