U.S. Census Bureau hiring for special Aurora count
The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring workers to assist with a special census in Aurora outside of the decennial process.
The 2020 census results showed that the city’s population fell by approximately 17,000 people. As a result, the reported drop in population has led to Aurora losing more than $4.3 million per year in revenue, according to a city newsletter.
The city will be conducting a new construction count of specific areas that have recently been built and are now occupied. The city hopes to increase its population total and generate funding.
The special census is tentatively scheduled to take place in late summer.
