Walter wins GOP nomination in 11th Cong. District

Elburn Village President Jeff Walter has won the Republican primary for Illinois’ 11th District seat.

With 95% of ballots counted, Walter had 13,286 votes as of late Tuesday, unofficial results showed. He was trailed by Naperville’s Mike Pierce, who had 12,124 votes; Aurora’s Charlie Kim, who had 4,027 votes; and Tedora Brown of Palos Park, who had 1,764 votes.

Walter will face U.S. Rep. Bill Foster of Naperville in November. Foster ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

The district encompasses portions of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will, DeKalb and Boone counties.
