Glen Ellyn Park District joins in annual DuPage River Sweep on April 18

The Glen Ellyn Park District is calling on community members to join them in making a positive impact on the environment at the annual DuPage River Sweep.

This year’s cleanup event will focus on Lake Ellyn's shoreline and the surrounding park areas, contributing to a healthier DuPage River system.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, Glen Ellyn.

Volunteers will work together to remove debris from the shoreline and park grounds surrounding the lake, preventing litter from entering the DuPage River. This effort is a crucial part of maintaining the health and beauty of our local ecosystem.

Participants are encouraged to bring rubber boots or hip waders if available. All other necessary supplies, including gloves and bags, will be provided by the Glen Ellyn Park District.

Registration is required by Saturday, April 4. Interested volunteers can register by visiting The Conservation Foundation’s website at theconservationfoundation.org/sweep.

The annual River Sweep is a self-coordinated stream cleanup held each spring throughout DuPage County and parts of Will County along the DuPage River.

The purpose of the one-day event is to encourage volunteer groups to help “sweep our rivers clean” by picking up debris in and along local waterways.
