Why oppose immigration law enforcement
Over the past few weeks, I have seen letters to this forum which are blatantly anti-ICE. In the latest one mention is made of ICE destroying civil liberties. I submit that this is not true as viewed in the various news accounts.
Seems to me that ICE is trying to enforce the law but is impeded by “protesters.” Yes, if a person is living in the U.S. illegally regardless of whether they arrived during Biden’s open border policy or whether they arrived twenty years ago, that person is a criminal. If left to carry out their duties without the impediment of people blocking their vehicles, spitting on them, threatening them and their families, (peacefully protesting?) ICE agents would carry out the apprehension of such people without depriving anyone else of their “civil liberties.” This is called “enforcing the law.”
Why is anyone against law enforcement? The bad things we see happening would not happen if the “protester” was not there, or, at least kept the protesting to shouting and waving signs from the sidelines. When does “protesting” become obstruction of justice? We probably all know people who are here illegally, but employed and leading a quiet life. But, being undocumented (another term for “illegal”) how are they obtaining health care, schooling for their children, etc.? Whose social security identity are they using or, through whatever means how did they become consumers of these services?
