Naperville to honor Vietnam War veterans with March 29 ceremony
On Sunday, March 29, join in observing National Vietnam War Veterans Day at 1 p.m. at Veterans Park, 303 E. Gartner Road in Naperville. This day marks the 53rd year of the departure of United States forces from Vietnam.
This special program, now in its fifth year, honors all that served back then in the United States military. They plan to start promptly at 1 p.m. regardless of the weather.
This is not just limited to those that served in Vietnam, but to “All Who Served” the nation during the Vietnam War.
In addition, they will recognize the “11 Naperville Fallen” as they each paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms, and they will recognize all the men and women that paid the ultimate price because of their service in Vietnam.
They also will lay a wreath at the Veterans Park wall. Then, attendees will move to the Gold Star Family Memorial to lay a wreath at the memorial in honor of all that paid the “Ultimate Sacrifice” while serving in all wars.
As in the past, this will be open to the public, especially all veterans. Seating will be available for those that need to sit. There will be ample parking available across the street at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road. Note: It is also Palm Sunday so parking at the church will be unavailable in the morning.
