Rounds of severe weather likely today with heavy rain and threat of tornadoes
Rounds of severe storms are expected to develop later today and continue into the evening with periods of heavy rain into Wednesday and the possibility of snow north of Interstate 80 as well.
There’s a threat of tornadoes as well, mainly south of I-80.
The more severe weather is expected south of I-80 starting around 3 p.m. and lasting into early Wednesday.
Hail in excess of two inches in diameter is possible, damaging winds in excess of 70 mph are also possible, according to forecasts from meteorologists at the National Weather Center bureau in Romeoville.
Temperatures will drop from a high in the 60s today to highs in the 40s for the remainder of the week for most of the suburbs, forecasts show.
