Starbucks customer spits on employee in Des Plaines

A customer at a Des Plaines coffee shop spat on an employee at a drive-through window because he was upset about waiting for his order, police said Monday.

The incident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Friday at Starbucks, 2655 S. Mannheim Road.

The customer — described as a bald man in a suit driving a black SUV — threw something at the drive-through window then backed up to spit in the victim’s face, police said. The man then drove away, headed north on Mannheim Road.
