Successful policing

A big heartfelt thank you to the Arlington Heights Police Department, NIPAS (Northern Illinois Police Alarm System) and each of the officers who safely resolved a potentially deadly encounter with an armed burglar in a neighborhood home just few short blocks from my own home in late February.

The homeowners were quickly and safely evacuated when the police arrived and the suspected burglar was taken into custody without any injuries.

Arlington Heights residents are fortunate to have an experienced, trained, equipped and well-run police department. Their alliance with NIPAS is fantastic.

As a recent graduate of the AHPD’s Citizens Police Academy where I learned the who, what, when, why and how of our police department, I encourage residents and business owners to take this course. It’s offered twice a year and is a wonderful way to learn more about our community and meet the officers, including the K9s, who play a huge role in making Arlington Heights a great place to live, raise a family, play, shop and work.
