Rotary International headquarters receives fourth LEED Gold certification for environmental sustainability

One Rotary Center — the Evanston-based world headquarters of global membership organization Rotary International — was LEED Gold recertified by the U.S. Green Building Council in late 2025.

Owned by Rotary International and managed and leased by Cushman & Wakefield, One Rotary Center was recognized for the fourth time by the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit for excellence across all aspects of environmental stewardship including sustainability in design, construction, and operation.

“This achievement aligns with Rotary’s commitment to protecting the environment,” said Michele Berg, deputy general secretary of Rotary International. “Attaining such a high rating for our water and energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and our use of sustainable materials demonstrates that we are creating a greener and healthier workplace as our charitable arm, The Rotary Foundation, provides millions in funding each year to member projects that strengthen and protect ecosystems around the world.”

Rotary brings together a global network of 1.2 million volunteer leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges and creating lasting change.

Their service improves lives both locally and internationally, from conserving and protecting natural resources and fostering harmony between communities and the environment to working toward a polio-free world.

“We know that implementing a LEED strategy delivers measurable benefits, from improving air and water quality to reducing energy consumption in a cost-effective manner, positively impacting owners, occupants, and society as a whole,” said Cushman & Wakefield’s Sandra Gutierrez, general manager for the building who led its recertification efforts.

Since 2009, One Rotary Center has also received the Energy Star™ Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for energy-efficient products and practices, including energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, a renewable electricity supply, occupancy sensors for lighting and HVAC, and more.

One Rotary Center conference rooms are available to rent for meetings and events and those who are interested may contact facilities.services@rotary.org to inquire about available space.
