Sugar Grove, road district patch Hankes Road bridge

Sugar Grove and the Sugar Grove Township Road District started filling potholes and doing other maintenance Thursday on the Hankes Road bridge over Route 56.

In a news release, the village said that it’s a short-term action to address immediate safety concerns. The village and the township will continue to work on a long-term solution to repair and maintain the bridge.

The village, the township and the Illinois Department of Transportation disagree on which entity is responsible for maintaining the bridge’s surface, according to a Facebook post by Village President Sue Stillwell.
