Q&A

Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

Maintaining a high level of service to the public while being fiscally responsible

If you are an incumbent, describe a few important initiatives you’ve led. If you’re not an incumbent, describe a few ways you would contribute to the board.

Responsible Bidder Ordinance, Pride Month

Is there a specific service or amenity that is lacking in the county? If so, how do you propose to provide and fund it?

There are no funds to add anything. We could do much more in the realm of mental health and substance abuse, but unless grant money becomes available (and currently that is not likely) it won’t be on the table.

With the county's budget being squeezed by federal funding cuts and other factors, what initiatives would you support to increase revenue and/or save money?

We need revenue. The 0.75% sales tax proposed in 2024 would have created revenue to maintain services.

We need to revisit this, at the same time rate or if it would make a difference to voters at 0.50%.

What is the single most important issue facing your district, and how should the county address it?

Revenue. We closed gaps by moving RTA Sales tax dollars to public safety from transportation. Long-term that will make applying for federal highway grants difficult, because we have to have matching funds in hand when the grants come up.

Why are you the best person to serve in this role?

I have lived in Kane County my entire life. I believe it is a beautiful place to live, and I want to keep it safe, welcoming, prosperous and I believe my values are reflected in my board votes.
