Endorsement: Pollock for Kane County Clerk
Democrats Brenda Rodgers of Elgin and Brian Pollock of Aurora are vying for the Kane County Clerk nomination in the March 17 primary. The winner will take on Republican incumbent John Cunningham.
Rodgers, a Realtor for 30 years and former Elgin City Council member, says she has heart and wants to tap into people who don’t vote. She says she is ready to hit the ground running to learn the job and help rebuild the trust between voters and local public servants. If elected, she would hold open houses for the community to see how the clerk’s office operates.
Pollock, an attorney from Aurora, has spent the last nine years with the Kane County Clerk’s Office as its chief of staff. He worked to write the legislation that helped make mail-in voting permanent in 2021, and helped research and purchase new voting equipment in 2023. He says he was instrumental in getting a new vote-time tool put on the clerk’s website so voters can find out wait times and other information around election time.
Both candidates want the clerk’s office to be more transparent and communicate better with residents and staff members. And they believe that elections are secure.
While both Rodgers and Pollock have good ideas, in this case experience does matter. Pollock is endorsed.
