The senior won the state all-around championship, placing first on the uneven parallel bars and vault, third on beam and fourth in the floor exercise.

Kane County — Zach Stewart, Marmion boys wrestling

Stewart won the state championship at 138 pounds by major decision, then a week later led the Cadets to the Class 3A dual-team title.

Yury Plaksin

Lake County — Yury Plaksin, Vernon Hills boys swimming

The junior won the state championship in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle, the first state titles in program history.
