Death of woman found outside Elk Grove Village hotel ruled a homicide

A woman found dead outside an Elk Grove Village hotel Wednesday morning died from multiple “sharp force” injuries, the Cook County medical examiner’s office reported Thursday.

The death was determined to be the result of a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said after completion of an autopsy.

Elk Grove police and fire department personnel discovered the woman at 4:18 a.m. Wednesday while responding to a report of an unresponsive person in the 2400 block of Landmeier Road.

The address listed on the medical examiner’s report is that of the InTown Suites Extended Stay Chicago hotel.

The Elk Grove Village Police Department Investigations Section and Major Crimes Assistance Team is investigating, officials said. Preliminary information indicates that the death is an isolated event and there is no known threat to the community, police said.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Eisenmenger said Thursday that the woman’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. There are no updates on the investigation, he added.
