Endorsement: Breugelmans for GOP in Illinois Senate Dist. 33
Republican voters in Illinois Senate District 33 face a particularly difficult choice March 17 for whom to represent them on the November ballot.
Both Jessica Breugelmans, a small business owner from Geneva, and Danielle Penman, a registered nurse from St. Charles, have been active in community affairs, especially local schools, and both avow strong Republican positions on issues ranging from state spending and controlling taxes to health care and support for education. They call for spending cuts, stronger efforts against waste and greater transparency and accountability in state government.
Breugelmans advocates in particular for term limits and redistricting reform. Penman is especially concerned about repealing the Safe-T Act and taking stronger positions to fight crime.
Both are steadfast advocates for their positions, and they’re articulate when describing problems and solutions, so choosing between them is no clear-cut matter. For our part, we find Breugelmans to demonstrate the most passion and strongest energy in pursuit of policy goals. We’re confident both candidates could represent the party well in advancing Republican interests in the Democrat-dominated legislature. We think Breugelmans offers the better candidacy, and she gets our endorsement.
