Wilke Road in Palatine closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday

As part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's ongoing Route 53 improvements, a stretch of Wilke Road — also known as West Illinois Route 53 Frontage Road — in Palatine will be closed to through traffic beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The closure from Rand to Dundee roads is expected to last until late May or early June, depending on the weather. It will allow crews to perform storm sewer work.

A detour route will be posted directing traffic to use Rand and Dundee roads.
