Thompson Elementary Student Lighthouse Team gives back at Feed My Starving Children
The Thompson Elementary Student Lighthouse Team recently demonstrated what it truly means to be a Thompson Leader by participating in a service project at Feed My Starving Children. With teamwork, focus and heart, students packed 82 boxes of meals to support children and families in need around the world.
As part of their commitment to leadership and service, the Lighthouse Team works to model the 7 Habits and inspire others through action. This experience brought those habits to life. Students were proactive in learning about global hunger, began with the end in mind as they worked toward a shared goal, and put first things first by staying focused and organized throughout the packing session. They synergized by working together efficiently at their stations, measuring ingredients, sealing bags, packing boxes and encouraging one another along the way.
Each box packed represents thousands of meals that will help nourish children and provide hope to communities facing food insecurity. The students understood that even small actions, when combined with teamwork, can make a significant impact.
Beyond the impressive total of 82 boxes, what stood out most was the pride and sense of responsibility the students displayed. They represented Thompson Elementary with compassion, leadership and gratitude for the opportunity to serve others.
Thompson Elementary School in Lake Villa is proud of the Student Lighthouse Team for living out the school’s values and showing that Thompson Tigers lead with both purpose and heart.
