Gaslight Players to stage ‘Oklahoma!’
The Gaslight Players will present the classic musical “Oklahoma!” The first collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II is set in the Indian Territory in 1906, and tells the story of farm girl Laurey and her two rival suitors, cowboy Curly McLain and brooding farmhand Jud Fry. Another romance featuring cowboy Will Parker and the flirtatious Ado Annie provides comic relief. Tensions run high in this close-knit community, fueled by a lively feud between the farmers and the cowmen.
The talented cast includes Matt Mosconi (Curly McLain), Anneliese Trotcky (Laurey), John B. Boss (Jud Fry), Trina Garland (Ado Annie), Kevin Lipecki (Will Parker), Kate McJannett (Aunt Eller), Scott Skiple (Ali Hakim), Jeff Blume (Andrew Carnes), Emily Maduzia (Gertie Cummings), Charlie Vana (Cord Elam), Rob Potempa (Ike), Andy Caccavari (Fred), Jim Szczesniak (Slim), Gabby Potempa (Vivian), Bridget Grimaldi (Ellen) and Lucy Trotcky (young girl). Ensemble members are Denise Adams, Martha Avina, Marie Burke, Jennifer Case, Cathy Lopez, Nancy Patterson, Phyllis Rotondo, Amy Serpe and Denise Wiorek.
The play is directed by Joanna Fosco. Producers are Jill and Charlie Vana and Phyllis Rotondo. The music director and rehearsal accompanist is Vince Hilado.
The choreographer is Rebecca Watson. The stage manager and prop master is Deb Szczesniak. Costumes are coordinated by Phyllis Rotondo. The kitchen crew is headed by Danielle Broehl and Mary Beth Conte.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, March 13, 14, 20 and 21; and at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in Hanley Hall at St. Stephen Church, 1835 Spruce St., Des Plaines. Table seating is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $12 for children 12 and younger. A table for four can be reserved for $70. Food and drinks will be available for sale.
