Teen accused of shooting rival with modified firearm in Bartlett

Bartlett police arrested a 17-year-old boy Sunday morning in connection with a shooting that left the occupant of a fleeing vehicle with nonlife-threatening gunshot wound.

The boy was subsequently charged by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office with attempted murder, aggravated battery/discharge of firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm/machine gun, aggravated discharge of a firearm/occupied vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm by someone under 21.

At about 10:15 a.m., Bartlett police officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the area of the 300 block of Joan Court.

When they arrived, officers identified a juvenile involved in the incident and learned a white Chevrolet Blazer had fled the scene.

Carol Stream police found the vehicle and a wounded occupant.

Bartlett detectives believe the juvenile shot into the Chevrolet after a physical fight with those inside it.

The juvenile is being detained by the Cook County sheriff’s office, with his future court date pending.
