Find Love Safely brings matchmaking services for people with disabilities to Chicago
CHICAGO, IL — February is the season of romance and conversations about love and connection fill the air! Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can find it challenging to find connections and suffer loneliness at a 2x higher rate than average individuals.
Now, Find Love Safely is bringing its safety-first dating and friendship program to the Chicago area, offering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a supported, respectful way to build meaningful relationships.
Find Love Safely is a national mission-driven organization founded by Katherine Gyolai to address a gap many families know well: adults with IDD want companionship, friendship, and romantic connection, yet mainstream dating apps and social platforms often pose serious safety, accessibility, and support challenges. Find Love Safely was created to meet that need with care, intention, and human support.
“Valentine’s Day is a reminder that connection matters — but it can also be a painful time for people who feel left out of traditional dating spaces,” said Gyolai, founder and CEO of Find Love Safely. “Bringing Find Love Safely to Chicago during the season of love feels especially meaningful. Everyone deserves the chance to build relationships with dignity, safety, and respect.”
The Chicago launch expands Find Love Safely’s growing presence across the United States and offers local adults with IDD access to:
— Personalized, supported matchmaking based on individual interests, goals, and support needs
— Safety-centered coaching and education, including workshops on healthy relationships, boundaries, and recognizing red flags
— Caregiver-inclusive communication, so families and support teams remain informed and aligned
— Opportunities for genuine connection, designed to reduce isolation and foster belonging
Unlike swipe-based dating apps, Find Love Safely is intentionally human-led. Trained matchmakers and coaches work closely with members to support relationship readiness, consent, and emotional safety, while honoring each person’s autonomy and desire for connection.
As Find Love Safely launches in the Chicago area, families, self-advocates, caregivers, and community partners are invited to learn more, refer potential members, and explore collaboration opportunities.
