Fox River Valley Library celebrates 150 years with historical review
The Fox River Valley Public Library District invites the community to celebrate the library’s 150-year history with a historical review by Phil Aleo on Wednesday, April 22.
It will be 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rakow Center, 665 Barrington Ave. in Carpentersville.
A slide presentation will detail the history and development of the Dundee Township Library, which is today the Fox River Valley Public Library District.
Going back to its roots, which began decades before its institution in 1876, this presentation will be both entertaining and educational.
Topics will include: how did alcohol have a major influence on the library, what impact did the Chicago Fire of 1871 have on the library. As well as what language were the library’s first books written in, and where was the library located in the 1800s.
These topics and much more will be discussed in this one-hour slide presentation by the local historian. Learn more at frvpld.info.
