First Lava Island indoor playground/adventure park in Illinois set to open in Kildeer

After several months in the works, the first Lava Island Play Oasis indoor playground/adventure park in Illinois is opening Thursday in the former Best Buy store in Kildeer.

A grand opening event will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. with regular operations beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. The 30,000-square-foot facility is in the Quentin Collection shopping center, 20771 N. Rand Road (Route 12).

Features include a three-level jungle gym tall enough for adults; trampolines and foam pits; towering slides; a tricycle track and dedicated toddler area; four immersive themed glow-in-the-dark party rooms; and a cafe featuring pizza, wings, milkshakes, funnel fries and an elevated coffee bar.

Lava Island opened its first location in 2018 in Aurora, Colorado, and has been in a growth mode.

“We’re beyond excited to bring Lava Island to Kildeer,” said Celeste Henderson, company founder and COO. “This space was designed for families to laugh, move and make memories together.”

VIP guests can get exclusive early access Thursday. A scavenger hunt of kids and chances to win a free birthday party or free all-day pass are available through Sunday. Visit lavaisland.com/kildeer/presale/.
