Arlington Heights police earn national accreditation

The Arlington Heights Police Department has achieved accreditation for a sixth time since 2008 from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

Created in 1979, the accreditation process focuses on standards that provide best practices related to life, health and safety procedures for law enforcement agencies. Only about 4%, of the 18,000 recognized law enforcement agencies in the U.S. have attained CALEA Accreditation.

“The award signifies a commitment to the Department’s continuing public safety mission, while adhering to established law enforcement best practice standards through an exemplary delivery of service to the Arlington Heights community,” Police Chief Nicholas A. Pecora Jr. said in an announcement of the award.
