No injuries in townhouse garage fire in Geneva Thursday
No one was hurt Thursday when a fire damaged the attached garage of a townhouse in Geneva.
According to a news release from the Geneva Fire Department, firefighters responded to the 2000 block of Vanderbilt Drive on the west side of Geneva at about 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 12 for a reported garage fire at a two-story, multi-unit townhouse.
Firefighters found light smoke coming from the attached two-car garage. The garage sprinkler system had activated, holding the fire in check prior to their arrival. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.
All occupants of the townhouse had evacuated before firefighters arrived.
The fire originated in the garage, and the rest of the townhouse remains habitable. The cause is under investigation.
