Southeast Missouri State announces the death of football player Danny Duray of Arlington Heights

Southeast Missouri State University announced Wednesday that sophomore football player Danny Duray of Arlington Heights has passed away.

Duray, a place-kicker who graduated from Hersey High School, played at College of DuPage in 2025 after redshirting as a freshman at Southeast Missouri State. He then returned to SEMO. Duray played football and soccer at Hersey.

No cause of death was given.

“Today is one of the hardest days I’ve experienced as a coach. We lost a young man who mattered deeply to our program and to so many,” SEMO coach Tom Matukewicz said in a news release on the school athletics department website. “Our team is hurting. Danny’s family is hurting. We are going to wrap our arms around them the best we can and walk through this pain together.”
