Oak Brook teens get a voice in park district programming
The Oak Brook Park District is inviting Oak Brook Park District resident teens to take an active role in shaping the future of teen programming through its newly formed teen advisory board, T.E.A.M. Rec.
This opportunity allows teens to use park district facilities during designated sessions while providing meaningful feedback on programs, spaces, and experiences designed specifically for their age group. Members will collaborate with park district staff, share ideas, and help influence future offerings that better reflect teen interests and needs.
“We’re excited for the launch of T.E.A.M. Rec. It’s a great bridge for the teens of Oak Brook and the park district,” said Kate Sniegowski, recreation manager-specialty programs for the Oak Brook Park District. “This is a great opportunity for the park district to improve teen recreation opportunities while empowering teens to share their perspective and build communication skills and creative thinking.”
Participation in T.E.A.M Rec offers valuable real-world experience, leadership development, and hands on involvement in community decision making. Teens will build resume-ready skills, learn how their feedback drives change, and earn volunteer hours that may be applied toward school and service requirements.
T.E.A.M Rec is designed for motivated Oak Brook Park District resident teens who want their voices heard and are interested in making a positive impact in their community. Participants are expected to use park district facilities responsibly, collaborate with staff, and serve as positive ambassadors for teen programming.
Parents and teens interested in learning more about eligibility, time commitment, and how to apply are encouraged to visit obparks.org/programs/team-rec, or contact Kate Sniegowski directly at ksniegowski@obparks.org.
By empowering teens to help shape the future of recreation, the Oak Brook Park District continues its commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young residents.
