Corvette stolen in Des Plaines; thief eludes police

A Chevrolet Corvette was stolen early Thursday off the 1300 block of Shagbark Drive in Des Plaines.

Police responding to a call about the theft spotted the vehicle headed south on Des Plaines River Road and tried to stop it, but the driver didn’t stop, turned off the headlights and escaped by driving onto Interstate 294, according to a news release.

No other details were available.
