Dickens-themed dinner at Metropolis to feature ‘Food Glorious Food!’
This weekend, the spirit of Victorian London moves from the stage to the table. In celebration of the culinary and performing arts, the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre and the Metropolis Ballroom of Arlington Heights will present "Food Glorious Food!" a specially themed dinner event from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Metropolis Ballroom, 6 S. Vail Ave., Arlington Heights.
Tickets are $95.33 for adults and $41.20 for children and available through Eventbrite.
Inspired by the iconic opening number of the musical “Oliver!,” "Food Glorious Food!" invites theater fans and food enthusiasts to step into the world of Oliver Twist. Hosted at the Metropolis Ballroom, just steps away from the theater, the evening features a curated, multicourse menu including individual beef Wellingtons and petite filet mignon with liver pate and truffles as appetizers; split pea soup; a main course of beef tenderloin medallions, garlic mashed potatoes and family style rigatoni primavera; and dessert. A cash bar will be available.
The evening offers more than just a feast for the palate. Guests will be treated to a special live performance as members of the cast of “Oliver!” take the floor to perform a selection of songs from the show.
The event coincides with the final weekend of “Oliver! A Staged Concert” at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, running through Sunday, Feb. 8. Directed by Patrick Tierney and featuring the 26-piece JAM Orchestra, the production has been hailed for its powerful performances of timeless tunes.
