Candidate accessibility an issue for Congress

I am writing as a frustrated constituent in Illinois’ 10th congressional district. We are coming up on a primary and our current congressman has been voting in ways and making policy decisions that are deeply concerning. There are topics like health care, ICE terrorizing our nation and his support of a foreign nation who is committing genocide that I would love to hear him speak about in more detail.

Brad Schneider had a town hall scheduled with Indivisible McHenry County for Jan. 24. I registered in hopes of asking some the questions that are very important to me. On the Friday prior, there was a notice that the event was canceled. Representatives from Schneider’s office told the Indivisible group, “He is no longer interested in speaking at the event due to his discomfort over some of the people who registered to attend the event.” I was shocked and disappointed that we wouldn’t be attending the forum.

Indivisible confirmed there were no safety threats or issues of that nature, and he wouldn’t switch to a virtual town hall — so what could it be? Is he truly just afraid to answer to his constituents?

It makes my choice on March 17 that much easier. Morgan Coghill, congressional candidate for District 10, has been hosting meet and greets and been incredibly accessible to the constituents.
