Finn McCool’s up for $225,000 grant in Wheeling

On Monday, village board members in Wheeling will discuss whether to award a $225,000 municipal grant to the company behind a restaurant coming to the Wheeling Town Center complex.

The grant would help cover remodeling costs at Finn McCool’s Irish Pub, 373 W. Dundee Road. The restaurant is owned by Schaumburg-based Ala Carte Entertainment, which also owns the Moretti’s restaurant in the plaza.

Finn McCool’s will occupy most of a roughly 6,600-square-foot building that previously had been home to Mia’s Cantina and a dessert shop called Arctic Spoon. Both closed last year.

A March opening is expected.

Monday’s board meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at village hall, 2 Community Blvd. It will be livestreamed at youtube.com/@wheelingiltv.
