Today’s protests seek rule of law
I am responding to the view from Marie Kreuser, Schaumburg. She suggests that protesters did not protest the Obama and Biden administrations' illegal immigrant deportations because they were Democrats and could do no wrong.
Protesters then had nothing to protest. Illegal immigrants should be removed from this country. Obama and Biden adhered to the Immigration and Nationality Act. This Act provides the laws and guidelines by which ICE agents must adhere to align with federal statutes and constitutional rights.
The rule of law, the United States Constitution, is the fundamental basis to preserve democracy. The Trump Administration’s ICE agents are violating the Immigration and Nationality Act, ignoring the Fourth and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. They are committing crimes and not being held accountable by the Trump Administration, the Department of Justice or the Supreme Court.
We are in a very dangerous time with corruption occurring at each of these highest levels of our government. The Republican Congress can stop this by the power of impeachment, but Republican senators and representatives will not act. They prefer their current power and monetary gain at the expense of us taxpayers.
Protest by the masses is one of the last avenues to save this great nation. Authoritarianism is a heartbeat away.
