When a mob invades a sanctuary
On Sunday, Jan. 18, a mob of left-wing activists invaded Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, during their worship service. Of course, this has caused quite a stir regarding the legitimacy of protests in certain places — such as houses of worship. If history teaches us anything it is that rising tension reaches a boiling point that ends with either complete separation or violence. Over the last 10 years, though growing more aggressive in the last five years, left-wing activists have made it clear that they have no intention of lowering the temperature of their rhetoric and agitation.
When Don Lemon states, “That’s what protesting is about, it’s to make people uncomfortable,” he confuses the petitioning for a redress of grievances with terrorism. So, the whole point of the mob on that Sunday morning was to agitate and terrorize Christian families in their place of worship. Their reasoning was because one of the pastors of Cities Church might have been working with ICE. Instead of finding the pastor, the mob decided to go after everyone — families with small children, young women, the elderly — no one was exempt.
As a pastor of a conservative, Bible-based, Christian church in Aurora, I can only warn that those who attack the Church of God are attacking the bride of Christ. Holy Scripture says, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord” (Romans 12:19). It is certain that the wrath of God will come upon those who attack the church and refuse to repent. Yet, the church is given the mission of Christ in this time to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to all who are perishing. My hope is that many from this mob would put their faith in Christ and be reconciled to God before it is too late.
