Wealth and greed fuel contest for Greenland

Why does Trump want Greenland? It is not really for military security. We have a base there and have open permission to build more if we want to. We don’t need to own Greenland when we can fortify the entire island. The reason is global warming and economics.

Greenland has been a frozen wasteland, isolated from anything important in the world, with very little population and hardly any economy. The majority of the people live on welfare from Denmark. There has been no reason for anyone to want Greenland. Global warming is changing that. In 10 more years, the Arctic Ocean will be open for ships. This will create a shorter trade route between Europe and Asia, and Greenland will be right in the route. This will create an economic boom in Greenland. In 10 more years, it will be possible to start mining for the huge treasure of valuable minerals and ores that will no longer be buried by ice. Greenland will start generating a lot of wealth.

Rightfully, the future wealth belongs to Denmark. Trump wants to take it for the U.S. But Trump is not alone. Leaders of other countries have started making some moves toward taking Greenland from Denmark. Denmark does not have enough military to avoid losing Greenland and needs help from other countries to protect their ownership. The fight has begun to see who will steal Greenland from Denmark. Trump is only the most obvious contestant. There could be military advantage in having Greenland, but the real fight is about money and greed.

Greenland is a welfare state. The majority of people in Greenland do not want to join the United States because they are worried that they will lose welfare benefits and free health care. If an economic boom happens, the native people will probably be pushed aside by other people coming in.
